My First Time in Emirates Business Class Experience: Is It Worth $800AUD?

Would you pay $800 to fly for three hours in Emirates Business Class on their A380? For perspective, their economy tickets are $350. Keep reading and tell me what you think. In this blog post, I’ll share why I enjoyed business class so much. Stay tuned for my next post, where I’ll cover my first class experience!

Journey Details

I flew with Emirates from Sydney to Christchurch for the breakfast service on flight number EK412 (also known as QF8766) in their A380. The Emirates Business Class has a 1-2-1 seat configuration, ensuring everyone has aisle access. My seat was 14A, right next to the window, offering a fantastic view and a bit of extra privacy.

Cabin and Seating

The Emirates Business Class cabin exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere with its wooden panels and purple orchids brightening the space. As someone who can usually sleep in economy, I wasn’t expecting business class to be this luxurious. The seats were plush, and the footwell was spacious for a small person like me.

When the attendants came by with juice or champagne, I was a bit overwhelmed and ended up choosing juice. Shortly after, I settled into the comfort of my seat. Having slippers was a great touch, allowing me to avoid wearing my own shoes in the bathroom. I also received an eye mask and a headset.

Pre-Flight Amenities

Before takeoff, hot towels were provided to freshen up, though they were a bit too hot for my liking.

The extensive food and drink menu then caught my attention quickly, offering a wide range of choices. If you’re indecisive like me, you can check the Emirates website before your flight to explore your options.

Onboard Storage and Features

One of my favourite aspects of the seat was the ample storage space. The side compartments along the window were massive, perfect for stowing away personal items. The footwell featured a footrest and additional shoe storage, while magazines were conveniently stored out of the way above the footwell. The seat also included a big TV screen for entertainment.

There was a cool feature on the remote where you could call anyone on the plane so I ad a quick phone chat.

Meal Service

Before the main meal, attendants offered snacks and drinks. For breakfast, I chose the frittata and corn fritters, accompanied by croissants, fruit salad, yogurt, and tea or coffee. I indulged in my meal while watching The Hunger Games. There was extra bread available, but I was already quite full.

Bathroom

I took a quick bathroom break, and though the idea of a window right behind the toilet might seem odd at home, it was intriguing at 35,000 feet with no neighbours in sight.

Bar Experience

Despite it being a morning flight, I visited the onboard bar, which turned out to be the highlight of the trip. The bar had a TV, snacks, and friendly staff who poured generous drinks and handed out extra chocolates. They were also happy to help with taking photos and videos. This part of the experience created some truly great memories.

Final Thoughts

Flying Emirates Business Class was an incredible experience, from the luxurious seating and extensive storage to the delectable food and vibrant onboard bar.
