Exploring Singapore: A Four-Day Adventure of Food, Shopping, and Sightseeing

Join me on a four-day adventure in Singapore as we explore the best shopping spots, local delicacies, and top tourist attractions. I’ll share tips on how to experience the luxury of Marina Bay Sands without breaking the bank, how to navigate Singapore’s underground tunnels, and how to indulge in amazing local food along the way.

Day 1: Arrival and Late-Night Exploration

I arrived at my hotel, which was absolutely stunning. The room was small but charming, with stylish decor and mirrors everywhere, creating a spacious feel. The bathroom was a bit small, but it had all the essentials, including some lovely Diptyque accessories.

After settling in, I decided to venture out for a late-night snack. I ended up at an ice dessert place in Suntec City, which was refreshing, but it didn’t quite hit the spot. So, I ordered some room service back at the hotel and called it a night.

Day 2: Shopping, Food, and Atlas Bar

The next morning, I did some work before heading out to explore. Singapore’s underground tunnels are a must if you want to avoid the heat while shopping. These air-conditioned walkways connect major areas of the city and house some fantastic shops.

For lunch, I headed to Chatterbox, a heritage restaurant and indulged in a traditional set meal, including delicious chicken rice. I was already full by the time I got to the main dish, but I couldn’t resist trying everything. I accidentally ordered a WHOLE bottle of sparkling tea ($60 down the drain!) and an extra coconut drink on top of my coconut ice cream—oops!

After lunch, I did some shopping, exploring the endless variety of products available in Singapore. I even tried on some quirky Gentle Monster sunglasses but couldn’t decide on the perfect pair.

In the evening, I met my boyfriend at Atlas Bar, a stunning venue with an impressive gin tower overlooking the entire bar. We enjoyed some gin cocktails—Atlas French and Wicked Trio—both of which were delightful. The food was equally impressive, with fries, bread, and other snacks rounding off the evening perfectly.

Day 3: More Shopping and Local Delicacies

Our third day started with a bit of shopping in Orchard Road, one of Singapore’s most famous shopping districts. Before diving into the stores, we fueled up at Food Opera, a food court inside ION Orchard. Watching the chefs prepare the dishes right in front of us was mesmerizing, and the food was delicious.

Next, we visited Watson’s, Singapore’s version of Walgreens or Priceline, where I stocked up on some beauty essentials. Singapore’s stores offer a great mix of Asian and European products, so there’s something for everyone.

We also went to visit an old favourite of his, 1A Crispy Puffs which had the crumbliest fluffiest curry puffs I’ve ever had. These were so delicious!

Later, we checked into the JW Marriott South Beach to be closer to the Marina Bay area. The hotel lobby was quirky and artsy, a perfect prelude to the rest of the evening. We tried some beef jerky from Bee Cheng Hiang, which was delicious but made my boyfriend a bit anxious about crumbs in the bed.

After a quick shopping spree, we had dinner at Jumbo Seafood, a popular spot among locals. We enjoyed prawn heads, a local favorite lime juice with aloe vera, and, of course, the famous chili crab. The crab was pre-cracked for us, making it easy to enjoy. It was spicy but absolutely delicious—a perfect way to end the day.

Day 4: Marina Bay Sands, Raffles Hotel, and MORE Shopping

Our day started with breakfast at a Taiwanese bakery, and we chose a few different pastries to fuel us for the activities ahead.

We also made a visit to the iconic Raffles Hotel, home of the original Singapore Sling. The bar’s tradition of eating peanuts and tossing the shells on the floor was a fun and unique experience, especially in a country known for its strict cleanliness laws.

After this we went to Marina Bay Sands to shop until we dropped. We visited the TWG cafe as well for some dessert. I recommend going to the nearby TWG store first to check out which tea flavour you want first because they have hundreds!

I visited Moynat, one of the oldest trunk makers in the world, where I purchased a beautiful bag. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and they even personalized the bag with my initials.

We spent the night with family at a local restaurant, and even visited a 24 hour durian local favourite!

Day 5: Ce La Vi

I headed to Marina Bay Sands again, because while we didn’t stay at the hotel, I found a way to enjoy the infinity pool’s stunning views without booking a room. For $35, I accessed the rooftop bar, CÉ LA VI, which offers the same incredible views of the bay. The food was great too—I had salmon tacos and sourdough with an assortment of dips, all of which were delicious.

Final Thoughts

Singapore is a city that offers a perfect blend of luxury, culture, and culinary delights. Whether you’re exploring high-end shopping malls, indulging in local food, or enjoying the views from Marina Bay Sands, there’s something for everyone. I hope this blog post gives you a taste of what you can experience in this vibrant city. Until next time, happy travels!
