Top Bali Spas for Every Budget: Affordable and Luxury options

Bali is known for its luxurious and relaxing spa experiences, and I was lucky enough to try some of the island’s best treatments. Whether you’re looking for an affordable escape or a more extravagant pampering session, Bali has something for everyone. In this post, I’ll take you on a journey through the top spas I visited, from budget-friendly to ultra-luxury, and I’ll share all the juicy details—what I loved, what I didn’t, and what you should know before booking your own spa day.

1. Tjampuhan Spa – A Historic Experience

Rating: 1/5

  • Cost: Approx. $50
  • Treatment: Massage, Yogurt Scrub, Flower Bath (did not take this due to hygiene and time)
  • Location: Ubud

Tjampuhan Spa is one of the oldest spas in Bali, founded in 1928. It’s steeped in history, which should have been a good sign. Unfortunately, this spa didn’t live up to the hype. The atmosphere was beautiful, but there were issues with cleanliness and communication at the front desk.

The massage and treatments themselves were in rooms that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a long time and were full of bugs, which was disappointing especially given its reputation. Honestly, I’d recommend giving this one a pass if you’re looking for an idyllic, relaxing spa experience. For $50, you might get a decent massage, but it’s not worth the frustration.

2. Akoya Spa – Luxury and Serenity

Rating: 5/5

  • Cost: Approx. $200
  • Treatment: 1-hour Massage
  • Location: Ubud

Akoya Spa offers a more refined and relaxing experience, perfect for those who love tranquility and luxury. This spa is connected to the stunning Viceroy Bali resort, which has won multiple awards, and it shows through the service as well as the facilities.

From the moment I entered, I was transported into a world of Balinese beauty and peace. The private rooms were spacious, perfect for couples or friends, and the selection of oils was extensive (I went for a blend of orange and jasmine). The massage was, hands down, the best of my trip—so relaxing, I could have easily fallen asleep right then and there. If you’re looking for a rejuvenating, peaceful escape, Akoya is a must-visit.

3. Nusa Bali Spa – Tropical Bliss

Rating: 4/5

  • Cost: Approx. $100
  • Treatment: 2-hour Massage and Tropical Bath
  • Location: Nusa Dua

Nusa Bali Spa offers a solid, mid-range option with a fantastic tropical vibe. The 2-hour massage was wonderfully thorough, and I especially enjoyed the tropical bath afterward even though I hate eating cucumbers. The staff here have been employed for years and I had Safitri who had worked there for over 10 years. The treatment was top-notch, and for the cost of the treatment you are getting incredible value.

4. Riverside Spa at Ulaman – The Ultimate Honeymoon Escape

Rating: 3.5/5

  • Cost: Approx. $200–$300
  • Treatment: Honeymoon Package
  • Location: Ulaman Resort, Bali

Riverside Spa is ideal for couples, especially those on their honeymoon (or those who like pretending to be on a honeymoon with a friend…😜). The package was incredibly romantic, with floral treatments and a peaceful riverside setting. The Balinese massage, body scrub, and flower bath left me feeling like a completely new person—seriously, I think I had a glow afterward. The ambiance here is dreamy, but for the price, you still need to deal with some bugs. It’s a great choice if you’re in the mood for a romantic experience, but they also have plenty of other options!

5. Karma Spa – A Cliff-Top Escape

Rating: 4/5

  • Cost: Approx. $350 (Add-ons can drive the cost to $800)
  • Treatment: Spa and Dine Package
  • Location: Karma Kandara Resort, Uluwatu

Karma Spa was probably the most visually stunning spa I visited in Bali. Perched high on the cliffs with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, this spa is the ultimate in luxury.

The Spa and Dine package includes a 75-minute Balinese massage, an infrared detox sauna, and a 3-course gourmet dinner overlooking the ocean. The experience was incredible, and the setting truly took it to another level. The massage was wonderful, and the post-treatment dinner was a perfect way to wind down. If you’re looking for a high-end, romantic getaway, this is definitely worth the splurge.

6. Four Seasons Jimbaran – Healing Village Baru Detox

Rating: 5/5

  • Cost: Approx. $400
  • Treatment: Baru Detox Package
  • Location: Four Seasons Resort, Jimbaran

Finally, we arrive at the most luxurious spa of them all: Four Seasons Jimbaran’s Healing Village. The Baru Detox treatment is a full sensory journey, featuring a citrus-spiced oil and clay wrap, followed by chromotherapy, hydrotherapy, and sound healing. The Vichy shower alone looks like something out of a futuristic sci-fi movie, and the whole experience feels incredibly high-tech. I left feeling like I had just undergone a complete mind-body transformation. With an elegant, intimate setting and the highest level of service, this spa is a dream come true for those seeking the ultimate relaxation.

Final Thoughts: Which Bali Spa Should You Choose?

Bali is home to some of the world’s most unique and luxurious spas, offering a variety of experiences for every budget. If you’re on a budget, Tjampuhan Spa might be a historical option, but you might be better off spending a bit more for an overall better experience elsewhere. If you’re looking for something truly relaxing, Akoya and Four Seasons are my top recommendations. For a more romantic getaway, Riverside Spa and Karma Spa provide great settings and experiences.

At the end of the day, Bali’s spas are all about finding the perfect experience for you, whether that’s an affordable treat or the ultimate luxury indulgence.

I hope this guide helps you pick the right Bali spa for your next visit! Don’t forget to share your experiences, and let me know if you have any questions about the treatments or other places to visit in Bali. Happy spa-ing! 🧖‍♀️✨
